Our Discovery Line
The openUC2 Discovery Line is a growing collection of modular, hands-on kits designed to explore optics, microscopy, and imaging step by step. Instead of a single fixed system, the Discovery Line lets you build, extend, and evolve your setup as your curiosity and skills grow.
At its core, the Discovery Line is about learning by building: assembling real optical systems, experimenting with components, and understanding how mechanics, optics, electronics, and software work together.
Together, these kits form a flexible, open, and expandable learning system – from first experiments to advanced optical setups.
Two types of Boxes
The Discovery Line consists of two complementary types of Kits
Standalone Boxes
These kits work on their own and are a perfect entry point into the openUC2 ecosystem. Examples include the Core Box and the Q Box, which provide everything needed for specific experiments and applications without additional modules.
Add-On Boxes
Add-ons are designed to expand the Core Box step by step. Starting with the Electronics Box, users can add motorization, control, and automation. More advanced modules build on this foundation, such as the Infinity Box, which requires the Electronics Box and enables infinity-corrected microscopy and camera-based imaging. Each new box unlocks additional capabilities and builds on the previous ones.
